The Bylaws of the Robotics Society of Southern California
Our primary goal is to promote and advance the art of robotics and the surrounding technologies by providing a fun and exciting meeting place where people of all ages and from all walks of life from the novice to the large brained pocket protector wearing robot Guru may gather and exchange knowledge, information and ideas. Building autonomous robots requires a lot of knowledge about a lot of systems. Our web site RSSC.org contains tutorials and resource information.
Our typical meetings consist of classroom sessions covering topics in: Science, Technology Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM). Topics like sensors, software, electronics, mechanics, soldering, construction techniques and much more. After the classroom session, we typically hold a short business meeting where we discuss and handle our club items. As soon as we finish the club business meeting, we may hold contests, Questions and Answers and "Show and Tell" session, this is where you get to bring one or more of your creations, past, present and future projects to show off.
The officers are President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Directors. They do not receive financial compensation for serving.
The election of officers is every January by 2/3 majority vote of the members at that meeting.
If it becomes necessary to remove an officer, a vote by 2/3 majority of the members makes that office vacant. If an office becomes vacant, the members will vote to fill the vacancy by a 2/3 majority. (Revised December 2015).
The need for and amount of dues and assessments are voted on at a monthly meeting.
Robotics Society of Southern California records will be kept by the officers for the society.
The officers are the board of directors. If the Robotics Society of Southern California, is dissolved, the liabilities will be paid first and the rest of the assets given to an educational institution.
