RSSC is an exciting and fun experimental robotics society formed in the late 1970's around the time when many computer clubs where being formed. The need for robotics specific club was met by forming one of the first robotics clubs in the world.
We meet once a month on the second Saturday of the month at California State University Long Beach in the Beach Building Services (BBS building, room 103. Parking is free on the street or paid on the university parking lots.
Our meetings start at 10 AM with classes, special interest groups on different robotics subjects from simple to very complex. At 12:30pm We also have a short business meeting followed by a short break then a competition plus a show and tell of the various projects our members are working on and it ends around 3:30pm.
Anyone interested in robotics and other latest technologies such as 3D printing, maker movement, Artificial Intelligence of any age group and skill level is welcome to come to our meetings! We also have presenters from student projects, Battlebot builders to Mars rover drivers and leaders from the robotics community.
Please contact us if you have any questions. We have member experts in virtually all areas of robotics. A $10 yearly membership is optional if you want to be a voting member.

We are a California non-profit corporation comprised of a diverse group of professionals and amateurs, elementary , high school/college students and college professors, engineers, doctors, hobbyist, makers and tinkerers. Our main goal is to create autonomous robots that interact with humans and teach those interested in learning how to. We accept donations and we give them out every month as prizes for our monthly competitions. Donations are usually in the form of parts, robot kits, software licenses, t-shirts and other robot products. We would like to thank Parallax, Pololu, Orbotix (Sphero), Robotis and RoboRealm for their previous generous donations!
Interested in Presenting at one of our meetings?
We would love to have people in robotics present at our meetings! Please use the Contact form and we will get back to you soon.
Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Can you come to our school and present during event x?
Answer: We highly recommend you use our Contact Form and we can forward it to the group. While most of our members have full time jobs there are many times when members volunteer to go to schools, parks, museums, libraries and maker faires to show off their robots.
2. Can I bring kids to the meetings?
Kids as old a 11 years will have a better understanding of what what is going on. We encourage interested people 11years and older to come by. No experience necessary.
3. I am interested in someone who can help me with my project. Paid or volunteered. I am interested in renting robots or getting robots for TV show, movies, etc.
We have several requests per month for this. For free advice stop by our meetings and ask during our show-n-tell part of the meeting. You can also join our email group and send your questions to the group. We answer pretty quickly most of the time.
For paid help it is better to come to one of our meeting, present your question or idea and ask if someone is interested in a paid project.
You can also send us your info via our contact form and we can ask the group to contact you. Same applies if you have interest in renting or getting a robot built for television. Many of our members have done this in the LA/OC/SB/Ventura counties.
