2005 Talent Contest


The purpose of the talent show contest is for participants to show their current creations and explain the purpose for the robots creation. This contest has been created to allow any type, size, etc robot to be entered that would not normally be entered into more structured contests.


1st: Bruce Weimer's Leaf - Leaf has really come together and is definately showing his (um, it's) personallity.



2nd: Alex's Rocky - He also won the Audiance Favorite award for his significant contributions to the Leaf project.



3rd: Jeff's Shock & Awe 3 - small line follower.



Others included:
Jeff Dunker's 5 robot RoboRally game collection, ambitious and clever.



Jim's R/C hand, very cool autonomous maze tilt game, and did a class of RoboSapians2.



Don demonstrated several sizes of effective robot arms.



Harry and Nink demo'd a large PC controlled omni-bot, impressive looking structure.



Walter showed 2 heavily modified RC trucks for an autonomous rock climbing project.





 

Rules

Judging will be split into four categories each having 25 percent of the final total.

1. Software
a. Design goal 5 points
b. Code efficiency 5 points
c. Appropriateness of the language used 5 points
d. Operation 5 points
e. How well does the software meet the design goal 5 points

2. Electronic hardware
a. Design goal 5 points
b. Construction 5 points
c. Appropriateness of the hardware used 5 points
d. Operation 5 points
e. How well does the electronics meet the design goal 5 points

3. Mechanical hardware
a. Design goal 5 points
b. Construction 5 points
c. Appropriateness of the hardware used 5 points
d. Operation 5 points
e. How well does the hardware meet the design goal 5 points

4. Audience score, mean or median scoring.

The judges score will be combined with the audience score to arrive at the winners.
